In the following 480 years, the Forbidden City has been under continuous re-construction and extension. Now the palace covers an area of 720,000 square meters, with a total of 8700 rooms. Located in the heart of Beijing, it is the largest and most complete existing palace in China and the whole world. It is ranked No.1 of the Top 5 Palaces in the world. In 1987, UNESCO ranked the Forbidden City into World Cultural Heritage list.

Beijing Forbidden City-The Treasure Hall
The Treasure Hall is highly recommended by many people as a must seen place in the Forbidden City.
The Treasure Hall consists of three imperial palaces, i.e. Yangxing Dian (Hall Cultivation Palace), Leshou Dian (Happiness Longevity Hall) and Yihe Xuan (Combined Harmony Porch). 
The Treasure Hall is just like a treasury house. It treasures all kinds of precious jewels, sparkling gold/silver wares, pearls, jade, phoenix coronet, ivory and jade carving, etc.
In fact large quantities of treasures in the Forbidden City were shipped to Taiwan when the Guomindang government and its troop retreated to Taiwan in 1949.
