Beijing Forbidden City-Chinese Eunuch

The Eunuch system of Qing Dynasty started from the Shunzhi Emperor period. Qing Dynasty drew the lessons of former dynasties, taking a very strict control and management on eunuch. The emperors forbad eunuchs from intervening with the political affairs. The eunuchs are not allowed to drink wine, gamble, work slowly, complain, walk idly, or speak loudly. The Emperor Qianlong also prohibited eunuchs from interacting with officials outside the Forbidden City. In late Qing Dynasty, some well-known eunuchs such as An Dehai and Li Lianying occurred, due to support from the empress dowager Cixi. Though these eunuchs did not influence the politics apparently at that time, they stood out brilliantly for some time.
In history, Ming Dynasty had the largest number of eunuchs. Then in Qing Dynasty, the positions and number of eunuchs were restricted. In the era of empress dowager Cixi, there were still more than 3,000 eunuchs.
After the 1911 Xin-Hai Revolution (New democratic revolution), the eunuch system was eradicated for ever.
